WOMEN OF THE FUTURE AWARDS 2024 WINNER DR. JESSICA O’LOGBON: FROM MEDICAL SCHOOL TO ENTREPRENEURIAL SUCCESS

Dr. Jessica O’Logbon is a medical doctor who recently graduated from King's College London and holds a Master’s in Psychiatry from the University of Cambridge.
A two-time national essay competition winner, Dr. O’Logbon was named the Association of Child & Adolescent Mental Health Clinical Trainee of the Year in 2023.
She is also the author of an e-book and has published over six academic papers as a medical student.
Her clinical and research interests span pediatric neurology and development, child and adolescent psychiatry, and maternal health.
Jessica is the recent winner of the 2024 Women of the Future Awards in the Community Spirit category for her leadership role in her online platform 'Progress with Jess.' This platform offers early careers advice and professional development opportunities for medical students, reaching over 60 countries worldwide, accumulating more than 30K followers across social media, and generating annual revenue through associated educational materials, including e-books.


MeetKeyPeople: Hey Jessica, thanks for doing this interview with us and congrats again on your win at the Women of the Future Awards!

Jessica: Hello and thank you so much for having me!

MeetKeyPeople: Have you always known you wanted to become a medical doctor and help others?

Jessica: I think I always had an inkling. Growing up, I was fascinated by science and how the human body works. Being born through IVF also gave me a unique perspective and an innate passion for women’s health. More importantly, I always felt a strong desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives. To me, medicine is not just about curing illness, but about giving people a quality of life they never thought they could have. Over time, that early interest solidified into a clear goal. I also worked in an NHS hospital as a healthcare assistant in my gap year before starting medicine as well as a placement in the Caribbean - I loved the people I met and the fact that medicine is a ‘passport career’.

MeetKeyPeople: Amazing! What inspired you to start your own healthtech platform, and how did you turn that idea into a reality? Did you have any help along the way? 

Jessica: The idea for my educational platform, www.progresswithjess.co.uk, came from my passion for making learning accessible and engaging. I wanted to create a space where people could find educational resources, read insightful blog posts, and access e-books I’ve authored.
